About Wonders of World Engineering

Wonders of World Engineering was a weekly magazine which appeared between 1937-1938. Edited by Clarence Winchester, he was assisted by a Consulting Editor, Thomas Walley. They also used a number of experts who contributed further articles on more specialised topics.

Wonders of World Engineering appeared in 53 weekly parts from 2nd March 1937 through to 1st March 1938.

It covered a wide range of subjects, and was intended to be the most comprehensive contribution to the literature of engineering to date.

The complete work was designed to be bound in two hardback volumes. Others chose to retain the weekly parts with their attractive colour covers.

Wonders of World Engineering included a number of topical themes, such as such as Wonders of Water Power and Linking the World’s Highways; all of these are listed.

The success of Wonders of World Engineering and its predecessors, Railway Wonders of the World and Shipping Wonders of the World, led to one further series being commissioned. It was also published by the Amalgamated Press, and edited by Clarence Winchester.
